Sample Golf Vacation Package - Play England’s Finest in the North-west

This tour is subject to availability and based on 4 golfers travelling in Summer 2025.

The North West of England is truly blessed with an array of top Championship courses. it is hard to find an area anywhere in the world with a greater concentration of exceptional traditional links. For the itinerary below, we recommend flying in and out of Manchester Airport which is less than an hour’s drive from your base for these 7 nights.

Golf Course Selection

Formby - A fine Championship golf links which was formed in 1884. It has hosted the Amateur Championship on 4 separate occasions. Formby is a formidable challenge with dunes and pine trees prominent and memorable features of the course.

Royal Birkdale - A fantastic Open Championship venue which last welcomed the event back in 2017 and saw the remarkable triumph of Jordan Spieth. The perfect example of a links course, each hole runs through a landscape of high dunes, the fairways are flat and fair and from the tee there is generally a clear view of the task ahead. Each hole is memorable, from The Open Championship tee on the 13th, which measures 498 yards and is one of the longest par 4s in championship golf, to the 16th hole, where a plaque commemorates Arnold Palmer's great shot in appalling weather conditions, on the way to his Open win 1961! Next set to host the Open in 2026.

Royal Liverpool - Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake has staged major tournaments throughout its long history including eleven Open Championships and many amateur events. The 2014 Open Championship returned here and Rory McIlroy took the home the Claret Jug. 2023 had an unexpected but no less deserved champion in Brian Harman.

Royal Lytham - Host to ten Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments including the Women's and Seniors Open Championships. It was also the venue for the Walker Cup 2015. Northern hospitality has always been famous and Royal Lytham leads the way.

Hillside - Hillside is widely regarded as the finest British golf course not to have staged an Open Championship and there are those who believe that it presents a tougher challenge than many of the courses on the current rota.

Wallasey - Home of the Stableford scoring system, this classic links was originally designed by Tom Morris Snr., but with many later alterations influenced by such illustrious names as Hilton, Hawtree and James Braid. Most of the course is played through sand dunes, with few flat lies on tight, running fairways. The greens are firm and fast, and constant sea breezes make clubbing difficult.

Accommodation Selection

Hope Street, Liverpool - Hope Street Hotel sits handsomely in the heart of Liverpool’s Georgian neighbourhood with some, artistic and clever neighbours - Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Everyman Theatre and a plethora of university departments, independent restaurants and infamous public houses. Two magnificent cathedrals bookend Hope Street and all are within a short stroll from the hotel’s front door.Hope Street Hotel's look is city chic with original features of pink Cheshire brick, iron pillars and pitch pine beams. The cherry and walnut bespoke furniture and solid oak and birch floors complement its favourite colour - white: crisp white, chalky white and plump snowy white are the essence of this city hotel in Liverpool.
