Sightseeing of the Season 2023 – Spirit of the Spey Canoe Trip

An absolute must for any whisky lover who wants to enjoy a dram and soak up some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside at the same time! David Craig, an expert canoe instructor and fabulous story-teller, will be your guide for an exhilarating River Spey paddle where you should have close encounters with some Scottish wildlife, the opportunity to see some fishermen carrying out the skilful art of ‘Spey Casting’ and learn about the social and natural history of this important river, not to mention it’s strong connections with whisky-making.

David will make sure you have all the essentials to make sure your canoe trip is as truly memorable as you would expect – all the necessary equipment such as buoyancy aids and paddles, warm, waterproof clothing to keep you safe and (fairly) dry from any spray and a delicious riverside lunch with tea and coffee or something stronger to keep the insides warm!

The tour culminates with a riverside whisky tasting where you can share stories and learn more about the majestic River Spey.

Many of our Drumgolfers have managed to incorporate a Sprit of the Spey Canoe Trip into one of the golfing tours as they travel north to the Highlands and it has been a unanimous success. It is a great way to explore a different side to our great outdoors and a great chance to put your clubs down for a day in the middle of your trip!
