An Introduction to The Highlands
Main image: A Highland landscape.
Our favourite hotels on the Moray Coast include the Golf View Hotel in Nairn, a comfortable and spacious property which is undergoing a significant room refurbishment. It is very close to Nairn Golf Club & has beautiful views from its Conservatory restaurant and bar. We also love Sandown Guest House which in terms of luxury and comfort matches or surpasses all the top hotels in the area. However the properties greatest strength is its owner Liz Burgess, who should win an award for being one of Scotland’s greatest hospitality ambassadors.
Our golfers often consider the Highland leg of their trip to be the high point & we have customers who will come to Scotland solely to stay in this region to play the four courses: Nairn, Castle Stuart, Royal Dornoch and Brora (with perhaps a cheeky round at Fortrose and Rosemarkie thrown in for good measure!). In Inverness we recommend Kingsmills Hotel in the city centre which is a very comfortable hotel.
Travelling north to Dornoch we like the Royal Golf Hotel which is just a few steps from the prestigious Royal Dornoch Golf Club. There is also the impressive Links House which is the last word in sumptuous luxury and the more modest Marine Hotel in Brora with striking views over the coastline and swimming pool and spa to indulge in. Sightseeing is extremely varied with the opulence of Dunrobin Castle versus Culloden Battlefield and monster spotting on Loch Ness from Urquhart Castle against romantic Cawdor Castle. All topped off with a visit to Glenmorangie Distillery for a wee dram and tour.
