Accommodation of the Season – Pierhouse Hotel, Port Appin – for those looking for a break from golf!

For those wishing to break away from the ‘golfing pockets’ of Scotland, we can highly recommend a couple of nights in the idyllic fishing village of Port Appin, located on a secluded peninsula between Oban and Ballachulish on Scotland’s breath-taking West Coast. Here you will find the Pierhouse Hotel, sitting directly in front of Loch Linnhe, the island of Lismore and the Morvern Peninsula beyond.

You can expect a hearty Scottish welcome from its long-standing staff and enjoy the understated elegance and stylish surroundings which are a nod to this property’s location on this stunning coastline. Rooms are not huge but full of charm and lots of thoughtful touches with views to simply take your breath away. The hotel’s two AA Rosette restaurant which is lead by chef, Michael, offers arguably the freshest seafood dishes you will ever come across. Think langoustines, lobsters, crab and mussels in their simplest form, cooked to perfection whilst watching the sun setting over the Hills of Morvern – you will not be disappointed!

Whilst there, you can take the wee passenger ferry over to the tiny Isle of Lismore where you can rent bicycles for the day or head approximately 30 minutes north to the mysterious Glen Coe, site of one of Scotland’s most notorious massacres in 1692! This stunning location has been used as the backdrop for many on-screen blockbusters such as James Bond’s Skyfall and the hit series Outlander.
