An Introduction to Perthshire & Angus

The County of Angus possesses a very attractive coastline with terrain ideal for links golf. It lies directly opposite the East Neuk of Fife where often the golf clubs on these coasts have a wry smile at each other when the weather conditions on ‘the other side’, descend into mist or rain!

Carnoustie Golf Links sits on this coast and has been described as one of the toughest courses on the Open Championship circuit. It most recently hosted the Open Championship in 2018 where the cool Italian Francesco Molinari surprised all by winning ultimately in convincing style. The Championship course is supported by Buddon and Burnside links – neither may be as treacherous, but both offer a fine test of golf. Just five minutes south along the coast will bring you to Panmure Golf Club, from where we receive fantastic feedback. The high calibre of its tough and tight 18 holes is only matched by its warm and welcoming Clubhouse.

Many of our clients enjoy a change of scene and choose to play on a few of the area’s inland tracks, such as Gleneagles where there are 3 impressive courses: The PGA Centenary, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup & 2019 Solheim Cup, the Queen’s Course and the King’s Course, arguably the finest inland course in Scotland. A superior game is also to be had at Blairgowrie on its 2 excellent courses, Landsdowne and Rosemount, the latter being the favoured of the two.

The most lavish accommodation is found at Gleneagles Resort, where there are numerous activities to be enjoyed beyond the golf. Clients also stay in Murrayshall in Scone, which also has 2 of its own courses and is a good base from which to strike out to other courses. Fonab Castle is often used as a pit stop if golfers are travelling north to south (or vice versa!) with high quality accommodation and superb views across Loch Faskally.
